Anyone who desires to learn about the flute and improve is welcome in my studio. Students may enroll in 30, 45, or 60 minute lessons based on their age and goals. I am always interested in meeting enthusiastic, hardworking students!
I am accepting students in my home studio in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on the Lycoming College campus, the Susquehanna University campus, and via Skype. I have over twenty years experience in flute instruction. My students have shown consistent improvement, won auditions for district, regional, all-state, and all-east festivals, demonstrated success in regional flute competitions, earned superior rankings at OMEA and ILMEA solo and ensemble adjudications, and continued the study of music in college. Please contact me for more information, lesson pricing, and studio policies. Statements from Students and Parents: "My daughter loves her lessons with Ashley. Her flute playing skills are improving immensely since she started taking lessons with her! Ashley makes flute lessons fun for her students encouraging them to challenge themselves!" Becky, parent of Anna, grade 7 "Ashley the flute teacher for my daughter Becca for 2 years and helped Becca grow as a flautist during that time. Ashley was a wonderful asset to my daughter’s learning needs and one of the most impressive educators I have met in my teaching career. Ashley is not only intelligent and hard-working, but creative, easy-going, and truly responsive and compassionate with her students. Ashley’s teaching style reflects inspiration for her students as she challenged my daughter to do more than play a musical instrument. Becca developed a love for music and a true desire to excel in her musical ability while under the influence of Ashley’s exceptional teaching style. Ashley consistently adapted to the learning needs of Becca and demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, communication, and leadership skills her instruction of my child." Amanda, parent of Becca "My daughter has only had three lessons with Ashley, and already she is so excited about the progress she is making. She is learning better posture, breathing, and she loves the literature. I am excited to see where she will be able to go with this training." Cara, parent of Elin, grade 8 "As an older adult (retiree), I thoroughly enjoyed Ashley Shank's flute instruction as I endeavored to learn a new instrument. Her professional skills at assisting me with proper hand position, balance, keying, and embochure kept me well-motivated to keep proceeding towards the eventual long-term goal of playing this beautiful instrument for my own enjoyment." Mark, student, age 65 "You were a great teacher and I learned so much from you!" Madeleine, high school student |
