Website Launch in Summer 2019!.....The Online Encyclopedia of Solo and Chamber Works for Flute by Composers from Russia and the Former Soviet Republics
I completed my doctoral thesis "A Handbook of Solo and Chamber Music for Flute by Composers from Russia and the Former Soviet Republics" in the spring of 2014. My thesis was named the winner of the 2015 National Flute Association Graduate Research Competition, this award is given to "a flutist who has made outstanding contributions to flute study and to expose fine new scholarly work by NFA members and to promote the value of research." In order to make this research widely available and to increase performance and awareness of these works, I am expanding the handbook into an Online Encyclopedia of Solo and Chamber Music for Flute by Composers from Russia and the Former Soviet Republics. The website is under construction and the planned launch will occur in summer 2019!
I am very excited to share this index of over 2,800 works! My hope is that by providing this on-line resource awareness, performance, and recordings of these works will increase. The website will include:
-an index by composer with brief composer biography and publisher information
-index by instrumentation
The next step will be to expand the piece descriptions with detailed annotated entries. Other musicians will be invited to help expand the entries by submitting information about publishers, recordings, descriptions of the works, and other vital information.
